Our goals: Your success in the classroom and the school

    -Specific support you need, especially reading comprehension, figurative language, and symbolism.

    -Practice and complete formal reading and writing work samples required for graduation, so you will be ready in four years! 

  -Advocacy and support in your content classes

LA Lab  5th Period

  • For 12th graders who still need to meet their Essential Skills to be eligible to graduate-

Individual mini-lessons on successful strategies and specific content as necessary.

Reading Work Samples:   Students must complete two official formal work samples and receive passing scores of 12 with at least 4 for each scoring category.

Writing Sample Modes:   Narrative, Expository or Persuasion/Argumentation

Complete 2 samples in different modes with scores of 40 and at least 4 in each category. Writing scores are based on each trait:

  • Ideas and Content, 
  • Organization, 
  • Sentence Fluency and 
  • Conventions (weighted double)
